Grażyna Bacewicz – Chamber Music

Grażyna Bacewicz was one of the last musicians to combine extensive composing activity with numerous performances as a multi-instrumentalist – violinist and pianist. And throughout her work, the influence of performance experience is clearly visible; Bacewicz wrote most of her violin works for her own performances.

There’s a lot going on in my music, it’s predatory and lyrical at the same time. These words are perfectly illustrated by the four sonatas on this CD. The chamber music of the Polish composer was chosen for her debut album by Jaga Klimaszewska, an excellent violinist, performing solo and as a chamber musician, in prestigious concert halls, and the pianist Mateusz Rettner, developing his creative personality, following the example of Grażyna Bacewicz – as a performer and composer.
