Lili Laj – Christmas Carols for 4 and 6 hands

“I am giving you Christmas carols, which I like to think of as colorful musical pictures. Why colorful? My intention was to present the melodies of Christmas carols, which give such a wide scope for arranging and even composing activities, in a completely new and diverse light. That is why each carol is a separate musical story, sometimes closer to the genre of jazz music, and sometimes to Latin or classical music. However, regardless of the nature of the individual arrangements, each carol musically emphasizes the textual layer contained in it, which here, however, is closed in a purely instrumental form. I hope that the performers will like this new approach to the musical material, and that our native Christmas carols will gain a new sound and stylistic quality during joint performances for four hands, which after all give so much joy and satisfaction!”
