Spanish clarinet music of the 20th century

Spanish clarinet music of the 20th century

After two albums dedicated to Polish clarinet music of the 20th and 21st centuries, we have turned our attention to Spanish clarinet compositions! On our latest album you will find outstanding performances by Agnieszka Dąbrowska-Kras and Wioletta Fluda-Tkaczyk of compositions by Miguel Yuste Moreno, Julián Menéndez, Joan Guinjoan, and Salvador Brotons.

We present a selection of works for clarinet and piano that allows you to perceive the differences in contexts, dynamics, and the color of the Iberian Peninsula – the musical richness of 20th-century Spain with its diversity, while maintaining a sense of unity.

“Traditional Spanish music, like the history of the country, is full of temperament, liveliness, and emotions. (…) The recorded compositions were created over almost the entire 20th century. Each of the works represents unique stylistic values and an interesting approach to composition structure. The creators skillfully combine classical aesthetics with avant-garde elements, resulting in a unique effect that confirms that beauty and freshness can coexist with a 20th-century, different, and inherently uncompromising perception of musical language.”
– Agnieszka Dąbrowska-Kras
