Viola sonatas

For the first time in Poland – a CD recording of Mieczysław Weinberg’s Sonata op. 28 for viola and piano! Combined with the legendary Sonata op. 147 Dmitri Shostakovich, whose personal experiences so painfully remind us today that history repeats itself and dictatorships return! Katarzyna Budnik and Grzegorz Mania combined these two masterpieces and two artists on a joint album.

Years ago, Anna Woźniakowska wrote about their performance of Shostakovich’s sonata: “The music written in a masterful way was also interpreted. Yesterday we could observe the perfect cooperation of both artists, complementing each other at every moment of the work, building the work’s dramaturgy together and searching for the color of the music together. The great workshop and deep sensitivity of each of the artists allowed them to create real artistic creations.”
